Explore the full potential for your product.

Space is a home for unique conditions not easily imitated on Earth.

The elements of the space environment – ionizing radiation, extreme temperatures, near vacuum, and atomic oxygen – can be harnessed and leveraged for new product development and breakthrough innovations.

Find out how you can leverage extreme environments.

Platform

Space Radiation

Space in Low Earth Orbit offers a unique ionizing radiation environment resulting from solar particle events and galactic cosmic rays interacting with Earth’s Van Allen belts.  Atomic scale particles can move through solid objects interacting with the atomic structure of other molecules and atoms along the way.

Vacuum

Space is devoid of nearly all matter and thus called a near vacuum. It is also an area of extremely low pressure.

Atomic Oxygen

In space, strong ultraviolet radiation breaks down oxygen molecules into single oxygen atoms (O), or atomic oxygen, which is in limitless supply.

Extreme Temperatures

Temperatures in space can fluctuate from very cold (-120 C) to very hot (+120 C).
